  1. Fields of Fuel: A - EXCELLENT movie on the environment and what you can do about helping to fix it; this is not another michael moore or Inconvenient Truth type of documentary - this one is very informative and positive
  2. Documentary Shorts Spotlight
    1. kids + money: A - great tale of LA kids and their obsession with $ and spending/consumption
    2. Carlin: D - disturbing and tough to follow
    3. Pilgrimage: B - documentary of when the US put many American Japanese in concentration camps
    4. Farewell Packets of Ten: B - sad and funny commercial-like short of two Irish women talking about smoking
    5. Scoring: C+ - up close kissing scene with narrative about scoring... when in a wheel chair
    6. La Corona: B+ - documentary about a beauty pageant in a Columbian womens jail
  3. Downloading Nancy: B - very depressing and graphic, but a tale (disturbingly) based on a true story
  4. Frozen River: B+ - good overall movie with a decent plot but somewhat predictable character development
  5. Quid Pro Quo: A- - good acting, with a good storyline, slightly predictable
  6. August: B - dot com era story of the hype and the bust using a fictitious company as its base for the story; David Bowie does an excellent job in his 5 minutes of the movie
  7. Year of Getting to Know Us: B - childhood story of a boy and his crazy family... entertaining
  8. King of Ping Pong: B+ - subtitled movie based in Sweden of a boy struggling with maturing as a kid and struggling with family issues... all paralleled with distracting games of ping pong
  9. Wackness: B+ - funny "in 1994" movie with a serious side as well
  10. Trouble the Water: A - excellent movie about hurricane Katrina; shot mainly from the perspective of a woman with a family in the 9th ward
