stayoutside.com going from WIMPy to LAMP!

Posted by Z on July 3rd, 2007 -

I just changed from IIS6 to Apache for this site.  Yes!  No more Windows/IIS/mySQL/PHP (WIMP) Look for some more updates in the future (like me changing this whole freeken site over to Linux/Apache/mySQL/PHP (3 down, 1 to go) - aka LAMP it baby!

Cool! I’ve been using Lighttpd (aka Lighty) instead of Apache for a while now. I like it better, you may want to check it out. For database, I use Postgresql, which I feel is superior to MySQL (alert! holy war starting…). However, most web hosts only support MySQL, so it is definitely the safer route to go if you ever want to be able to move to a fully hosted environment.
